Dragon Con Urban Fantasy Track: Slayers

This was a fun Dragon Con Urban Fantasy panel about one of my favorite settings, the Buffyverse. We discussed the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer audio drama, Slayers. It was great hearing James Marsters voice back as Spike! With him and so many other returning actors (Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield Ford, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary, Danny Strong) it felt like a reunion. What did we love about Slayers? What did we think of a Buffyverse show in an audio drama format? What character arc did we like best? If we get a season 2, what would we love to see…I mean hear? Watch and find out.

This “scripted audio original picks up 10 years after the events of the final episode of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’ Since then, Spike (James Marsters) has gone deep undercover in Los Angeles, convincing the forces of darkness that he’s back to his evil ways. When his cover is compromised by sixteen-year-old Indira Nunnally (Laya DeLeon Hayes), Spike finds himself on baby-slayer-sitting duty once more. While he attempts to track down a watcher for his eager new protégé, their paths collide with the veteran Slayer of a parallel reality where Buffy Summers never existed…a reality where Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter) is the one-and-only Slayer. She needs Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world…his old flame, Drusilla (Juliet Landau).”

Guest on…ConTinual Fandom: Star Trek Enterprise & Discovery

Had a great time being on another ConTinual panel! “Star Trek Enterprise & Discovery have brought us stories from the pre-Federation and early days of the Federation, plus a leap into the future. Join Kristin Jackson, Robyn McGlotten, Elizabeth Noble, Joshua Palmatier, Marx Pyle, Jay Requard, and host James P. Nettles as they share the good, the bad, and the hopeful for the franchise!”

Guest on… Comics Lair: Beyond the Big Two

Had a fun time on this ConTinual panel talking about the many other great comic books out there that aren’t Marvel or DC.

Marvel and DC have brought some of the most iconic characters to the page and screen, but they aren’t the only ones. Are you looking for ways to branch out in your comics reading? Join host Nancy Northcott and panelists John L. French, Emily Lavin Leverett, and Marx Pyle for a chat about Comics Beyond the Big Two.

Guest on… The Panel Room Episode 167: Indie Filmmaking

I always love talking about indie filmmaking. Thanks for having me on the panel!

“Indie filmmaking is on the rise, from short form for social media to feature films. Join Matt Donahue, Alledria Hurt, Bill Mulligan, Hansi Oppenheimer, Marx Pyle, and host James P. Nettles as they talk about the differences in storytelling from page to screen, what it takes to set up a production, special effects, actors, and what it takes to bring a work to life!”

Guest on… Fandom: Post Apocalyptic Last of Us, Joe Ledger, V Wars

Thrilled to have been part of this great panel on post-apocalyptic storytelling! We explored themes from The Last of Us, Joe Ledger, V Wars, and more. It was an honor to join such talented panelists for this engaging discussion.

“We dive into the influence of modern post apocalyptic fiction, The Last of Us, Joe Ledger, V Wars, and more with Rachel A. Brune, Marx Pyle, and Jonathan Maberry, the creator of much of today’s influential work! Hosted by James P. Nettles. Where do ideas come from, why is it so popular, and what are the influences our creators use? Plus, what are they watching and reading?”

Guest on… The Panel Room: Pop Culture goes to school

Had a fun time being a panelist talking about the world of pop culture studies with The Panel Room!

“Pop culture goes to school. The Panel Room 166 is all about pop culture studies, pop culture educational programs, the influence of pop culture, and the benefits to students who learn more about pop culture through time with Charles Coletta, Kathy Merlock Jackson, Jennifer Swartz-Levine, Hansi Oppenheimer, Marx Pyle, and host James P.
